Pumpkin asset : Sketch and Sculpting

The star of this term is to brush up on our 3d skills and retopping. The task was to make a pumpkin since it is near Halloween, I immediately start researching the types of pumpkins and shapes I wanted them to be.

Moodboard: initial ideas

At first, I was thinking of making a cute pumpkin and sticking to my brand of liking cute themes. It slowly changes as I design them as they look too boring. The final design I choose make was the first one with abnormal shapes and a sad face.

Process

Appened in a sphere and pressed x to create symmetry, I start roughly sculpting the shape of a regular pumpkin
Then I use a move brush to attend and shape the pumpkin into the shape I wanted from the sketch. After cleaning up the form some more, I used mask and create a basic shape of the face.
using W to move the masked selection back and create a carving, I divided and dynamesh the model to make them smoother.
After that, I began creating a tongue. It was hard to get it into the shape I wanted and I tried remaking it 3 times before getting the one I wanted below.
I move the tongue into the mouth and with the small help of a moving brush make them bend. I created the teeth with half sphere ( edit with cut tool ) and a clay brush to build up the teeth.
I added tears by inserting more spheres and shaping them with moving tools before moving on to the leaf, by drawing on the shape on a plane with a mask. I extract the shape and split it from the plane to create a leaf with thickness to it..
The vines are easily created with CurvedToolSnap on a sphere
After assembling everything together and adding texture with clay brush, slash and trim. my pumpkin is finished!

Final Pumpkin Sculpting

I really like how this turns out and I am very proud of it! I was scared and sceptical about this project at first. The last time I used Zbrush for my project went very horrible with file corruption and unsuccessful baking. With small cheerings and comments/advice I got from my tutor I am starting to gain my confidence back, I really thanked them for it.

However, I really need to be less scared of making textures and lines on my models. Before feedback from my friends, they all said my model looks very smooth and it is incredible how smooth it was. I thought it was a compliment until I walk around to look at others' work. I need more textures, so I try to improve and add them little by little.
