Drawing Drapery

The moment I walked in to the room I groaned. It was cloth with folds and wrinkles setting on the table. The task was to draw Drapery.

Thumbnail

I started with the thumbnail sketch and indicate where the lights and shadow will be along with simple shapes of the cloth in front of me.

Process

After that I start the sketch on the final piece by measuring the objects and lines out the fold that stood out the most. The larger folds will be a guide for me to know the directions of where the smaller wrinkles and folds are even if it is not there and make it accurate to the ' anatomy ' as possible

By adding more details the drapery, I still look at the still life in front of me but also adding folds according to the logic of the folds such as: Diaper Folds, Drop Folds, and Inert Folds.
I start shading with the fabric with darkest value then slowly go to the grey cloth and then white
rendering the piece

Final Piece

At the end of the work. I actually enjoy doing folds a lot. I was just drawing and drawing and forgot the timer all together and realized later the class has already ended. It was weirdly enjoyable, however, I do know that I may get a lot of folds wrong or just doesn't look as detailed as the others may did it. But this was the first time I do a piece cantered on folds and I am quite proud.
