Tiling Textures & Alphas: Leaves and Alphas in 3DSMax

Process

Just like the tree bark, I follow the mood board I created and start the piece by making a silhouette for my flowers. Instead of making one flower, use a warp tool to create a variety of leaves as the video said. I gave myself more work by creating the variant shapes and angles of the flowers myself…

Making silhouette for Wisteria
Colouring process
Branch painted
Flower layering
Padding and adjusting the tones
I made a second one to create varieties on the tree

Linking to Diffuse Colour

Linking to opacity to create an Alpha

Creating a tree (but very ugly)

I’m very pleased with how the flowers turn out, even though It could use a few more rendering time but while I was working I told myself how the tree would be in the background and it doesn’t have to be as detailed as how each flower looks. It does look a little bit flat on the value side but overall, great job me and for a first Alpha test it went great.
