Mood Boards
The next 3D project is to create one low resolution half-timber Tudor/medieval style house. I was very excited about this project but was confused at first about what kind of shop should I do. I am not familiar with Tudor house, so I did some research and developed mood boards for my small shop.
First mood board for life study of Tudor house's structure and ideas.
First,I began my work by brainstorming ideas for a shop and a structure based on a real photograph of a Tudor-style home. I started off with 4 ideas; a flower shop, bakery, magic store, and potion shop. I ended up doing a mixture of flower shop and bakery because I think magic themed store are overused in medieval style. However, my concept is still based in a fantasy world, and I want to tell a story through the shop.
Second mood board for art style and colour study.
The second mood board I made was to be more specific on the setting of the shop, art styles, and the colour palette I wanted to use. I aimed for a more soft and cute colour scheme with lots of foliage reference to create my Bakery-Flower shop hybrid.
Sketch
Finally, after creating mood boards and gathering ideas. I sketch out the shops I want with small characters that will go with it. The story of the shop is based on my two characters, a baker elf and a florist witch who live together and created this shop. The original sketch is pushed by a warp tool in the end to add exaggerations which add character to the store.
