Value: How Artists Use Value

This week task is to make one still life with items of varying tonal values will be required. My major focus will be on exploring value and tonal range

 Thumbnails

By using the Composition and Compositional Principles learn from last weeks, I move and adjust the composition around to get the composition I like
Using negative space to show the silhouette of the set along with mapping out shadow so I know which place will use the darkest value.

Process

Sketching out the compositions
Adding details to the sketch and add the darkest value to the objects which is the middle of the sunflower
Adding grey value to the vase ( second darkest item ) and adding background outline
Rendering with back ground adding to make the values of the white objects pops up.

Final Piece

I draw the same vase once again and it doesn't want to look the same ever. I do enjoy playing with value on this piece and the background was a nice touch to add value to the piece, I'm really happy with the decision. I feel like I can make the shadow that cas from the objects looks better but I am not sure how yet apart from practicing. There was a lot of smudges since I start working on darker value which was a pain to get off.
