Value Range and Shading

Value Range and Shading is the last assignment this term that required me to understand the sense of light and texture, a feeling of depth, or three-dimensionality of the object in front of me. I am quite fond of the crosshatching technique and is familiar with it, I am not good with it but the sense of familiarity makes me feel quite confident with this work.

Thumbnail Sketch and blocking
Tool used: 2B pencil and putty eraser

I first start off by making a small thumbnail on top of the page and drawing a grid on both canvas and sketch to get the right proportion. Blocking out with the skill I learn from Ellipses and Symmetry task, I fill in the box with the objects.

Final Piece

Tool used: 2B - 6B pencil and putty eraser on A3

After the cleanups and finishing this work. This might be the first work I did so far that I can proudly say that I love it and am happy with it. My crosshatching technique could be improved and more detailed and try to keep the page from smudging with my wrist. Overall, I am really proud of myself as the last work before term break.
