Cube World: Rendering Process and final piece

On the last week of the break, I finally have the energy to finish this piece. It was a very long process but I enjoyed it either way. I started off by making the block out shapes for the island to paint over later and slowly adding details to it.

Prop sheet

After I finish with the main island, comes the props and structures that will be added to the island. I decided to make a separate file to make them as my main island file are getting a little bit too heavy and took a long time to open I started to panic. Everything is coloured except the corals, starfishes, shells and stones because it can be reused and use multiple colours by using gradient maps as seen below.

Background test
I paint in my bubble fishes from character sheet and add stars along with clouds and sky as the background. It took me several tries to get the background I wanted without it having the same grey value as the island doesn't stand out from the sky at all in my opinion but I have no idea how to fix it.

I am overjoyed with the final piece now that it is finally done. I love the colour palette I choose for the island and the overall tone this piece have. I did regret using so much time and taking so much break during this project instead of finishing it as soon as I can. The background could be less distracting from the island but overall, I am glad it's done.
