Repeatable Forms
Picture taken with phone camera
Our first blog task was to capture a photo of a building with repeatable forms to outline which part we could create in 3d programs by copy pasting the model. The location I chose was The Newarke Houses Museum because of the distinctly repeated pattern of its overall shapes used in the building. The building was plain and did not have much delicate pattern on it which made it easier to point out repeatable shapes.
I highlight each parts with different colours to show which part can be duplicate
- Red: the gate pillars can be form with box tool, Extrude to create and bend with Edit Poly (Vertex)
- When created one pillar, you can copy and rotate the object to create the opposite pillar.
- Orange: the small decoration on the wall near the edge of the roof. This can be created with plane and extrude tool with small shaping with Edit Poly (Vertex) before copy-paste them on each roof’s edge.
- Green: creating with sphere and cylinder. With easy shapes that 3dsmax can provide within seconds. I only need to create one to copy paste all ten of them and place them on the roof.
- Purple: the window can be created with planes layered each other to create the glasses and the window frame.
- Blue: created the same way as the purple window but with different looks to it.
